Today, Easter Sunday, while we celebrate our risen Lord, we mourn our loss. Our friend, Stuart A. Fenneman, left this world for her eternal home that was not made with hands, to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The graveside service was held out in the country at Lee. Having never been there, I followed directions to get to the little cemetery. So many cars were already parked there that I and quite a few others had to pull off the dirt road and walk a good way to the actual site. That was fine, as it was a beautiful, quiet stroll duringRead More →

We all have a favorite number, and this year it is FIVE. That’s right. This coming Saturday before Thanksgiving (November 17, 2018) marks our 5th Madison County Florida Storytelling Tellabration!TM. It doesn’t seem possible that we are already into our fifth year of planning, but we are. First, we have to tell you about an important update. Everyone enjoys the pastoral setting of a farm for our events, so this year we will again meet under a big tent on a farm. In fact, we will be just up the road a bit from our former location. Set your GPS for The Wally Davis Farm,Read More →

Schools are on Board! When Jim and I started this endeavor, we laid out three objectives: To promote the art and tradition of storytelling here in Madison County. To do something good for our community that would bring not only more positive attention to it, but also would be an opportunity for economic growth. To provide an opportunity for the youth of this area to create stories and tell them on a stage, giving them a chance for experience in public communication. Well, we can guarantee you that the art and tradition of storytelling will be carried on here in Madison County by some amazingRead More →

Here and There Updates! 1. Jade Plummer – Jayden Plummer was the lead teller for the Youthful Voices Concert at the Florida Storytelling Association’s 33rd Annual Festival. Along with the other scholarship-winners, Jade thrilled the listeners with her tale “Terror in the Trough”. Moments like this come into our lives with work, and Jade did the work. She paid the price by writing and editing and telling and practicing. We are so proud of her. Congratulations, Jade Plummer. Previous Madison County winners of the Virginia Rivers Youth Scholarship have been Abby Ratliff and Liberty Blair. Madison County is proud of all three of you and ofRead More →

Finishing Up the 3rd – Getting Ready for the 4th and More It has been a while since our 3rd Annual Tellabration!TM. Too long, in fact, but the holidays and a new year and a new agenda ahead of you have a way of slowing down your recapping and recalling. But we are remembering what a fantastic 3rd Annual Tellabration!TM we had here in Madison, Florida. Our featured teller, Bob Patterson, from St. Augustine, won the hearts of all the listeners and had more than a few toes tapping with his stories and music. What a thrill to have him with us! We were allRead More →

Children Join the Storytelling Tradition It’s happening right now. Children in Madison County are thinking of stories. They are remembering, creating, and reenvisioning stories of their past or of someone else’s past. They are forming their own stories to submit to this year’s 3rd Annual Madison County Florida’s Tellabration!TM. We have invited children from all over the county to participate. They may submit their stories (in written form) by October 15. Then some of the best storytellers will be selected to tell their story at the Tellabration!TM on November 19 at O’Toole’s Herb Farm. Our past tellers have thoroughly enjoyed their experience. Here is whatRead More →
